On Sunday, November 3, the People of Saint Peter’s Lutheran Church in Red Cross, PA unanimously elected The Rev. Terry Kent Wimmer to a fulltime Call as their new Pastor.
Pastor Wimmer of Skippack, Montgomery County, PA is no stranger to the people of St. Peter’s, having served as their Interim Pastor over 6 years ago, and again as their current Interim Pastor following the resignation of their Pastor earlier this year.
Pastor Wimmer is a graduate of Peirce College in Philadelphia (Associate in Arts degree), Penn State University (Bachelor of Social Science degree in Public Policy), the University of Arkansas (Master of Arts degree in Political Science) where he was awarded a Fulbright Congressional Fellowship and worked in the US Congress and Shapp Administration. He was awarded a Master of Divinity degree from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia in 1988 where he also served a pastoral care residency in the Trauma Center at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
Prior to serving at St. Peter’s, Pastor Wimmer served Lutheran congregations in NJ and Eastern and Central PA. He has also served as an Adjunct Senior Professor at colleges in eastern PA teaching Religion, Philosophy, Ethics, and Political Science courses.
Pastor Wimmer is the father of three children and six grandchildren who reside in the Harrisburg area.
