Pastor’s Corner – Pastor Terry Wimmer

  Grace and Peace be to you and yours during this season of Pentecost. Amen!

  During Pentecost, we are called not just to remember the coming of the Holy Spirit, but to live as Spirit-filled disciples of the Risen and Ascended Christ. Our focus is to shift from what God has done in Christ to how God continues working through us in the world.

  We are all called, especially during Pentecost, to proclaim the Gospel by sharing Christ's love and promise with others (Matthew 28:19), and to serve our neighbors who are in need of mercy, compassion, and hope. This is at the heart of what it means for each and every one of us to “do” evangelism.

  The people of St. Peter Church do social ministry extremely well with community events like St. Peter Day on  September 12-13. We have a new Youth Group which has monthly community-themed events, a new Church Choir and Sunday School for our children and Adults. The Spirit is truly alive at St. Peter.    

  Pentecost also reminds us that church is more than a building or a Sunday gathering. We are Christ's body in our communities, workplaces, homes, and neighborhoods.

Pentecost is not simply a season to sit and admire the flame resting on the disciples. It is the season to ask, “Where is the Spirit sending me now?” The Spirit comforts us, yes—but the Spirit also sends us. We gather at the font and table so that we may be scattered into the world as bearers of Christ's love.

History Corner - By Dave Hause 

Back in the 1800’s, our Church had two separate congregations, one being Lutheran and the other being Reformed. These two branches held church services on an every other Sunday basis. There was a Zartman family split between the two congregations. The father, John Kobel Zartman, was a Lutheran. He was born 18 Oct 1805 and was a farmer. On 1 Apr 1832 he married Anna Marie Seiler at St. Peter Church in a ceremony performed by Rev. Benjamin Boyer, a Reformed Minister. During his lifetime, John Zartman stayed a Lutheran. His wife, Anna Marie, born 22 May 1812, stayed a Reformed Member. Two of their sons and four of their daughters were Reformed members.

John and his wife are buried side by side in our Church Cemetery. Six of their children are also buried in our Church Cemetery.

Home Visits

Pastor Terry is continuing to visit and give Holy Communion to those who cannot come to worship, visiting those who are ill in hospitals and giving solace to all who need him.  Pastor Terry wants to make clear that he will visit anyone who needs him, day or night.  He is a strong advocate for pastoral care.  Just call his cell at 610-618-0304 and he will be wherever you need him.

Adult Sunday School – Adult Sunday School is back!  Class is held downstairs in the Social Hall at 10:15 am following the church service.  We are currently discussing various areas of the Bible and the discussion is very lively, goes off topic at times, but offers a great opportunity to learn.  Pastor Terry can really make you think.  Join us!

Winter Roundup 

Youth & Family Night – February 28th – Game Night & Build A Hoagie – So many thanks to Little Sicily for their generous donation of sub makings for our Youth & Family Night.  Great food.  It was a wonderful night of food, games and fellowship.

March 28th – 7:30 pm – Easter Egg Hunt by Flashlight– What a great turn-out … 65 kids and 55 adults.  Prizes, food and a special visit from the Easter Bunny.  It was so much fun! 

March 29th – Palm Sunday service at 9 am; coloring eggs downstairs following service for the outreach meals – Wonderful tradition of our youth coloring Easter eggs to include in our outreach program to feed families in the area!

April 5th – Easter Sunrise Service – 6:30 am followed by breakfast downstairs in the Social Hall; 2nd service at 10 am – It was a beautiful early Easter morning as we all experienced the sun rising and shining through our beautiful windows during the Sunrise service.  For those of you who missed it, please join us next year.  The breakfast after was delicious – every kind of egg you could think of – even poached!  Many thanks to the members who manned the kitchen and made that wonderful breakfast possible.

April 18th – Soup & Bake Sale – All proceeds to benefit our cemetery - What a success!  Delicious beef vegetable soup made by our soup specialists – Dan, Doyle, Sue, Celeste and Eric.  We were sold out by Noon!

And, of course, our famous bake sales.  Many thanks to Ann, Ashley, Janie and Sandy!

April 25th – Youth & Family Night – Craft Night – Paint A Flower Pot for Mom – Our Youth & Family Night continues to draw members of our community.  Our Youth Ministry team works hard and commits many hours to its success.  We are grateful to all of them.  We had a crowd for our Paint A Flower Pot for Mom and the kids painted 18 flower pots and went home with a baggie of soil and a packet of flower seeds.

 St Peter Days  - Planning is continuing for the St Peter Days on September 12 & 13.  We need volunteers.  Please see Doyle Ferster and be generous with your time.  We need all of you!

Blankets, Mugs and Cookbooks are still available.   Contact any member of Council.   

Weekly Communion – St. Peter’s is now offering Holy Communion weekly every Sunday at 9 am.  We are also now offering sparkling cider in addition to wine for those who prefer no alcohol.  As you approach the communion table, we ask that you cross your hands over your chest to signal that you prefer sparkling cider.
